The Federal Communications Commission wants everyone to be able to have access to reasonably priced internet services, especially in this day and age where internet is required for work, school, healthcare, and more. The Affordable Connectivity Program provides discounts to eligible households, and can also offer a one-time discount for households to purchase a laptop, desktop computer or tablet.

Any household with an individual who receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is eligible to receive discounted internet service through the ACP. Social Security doesn’t count ACP assistance as income or a resource for SSI purposes. Read the whole blog post here.
